Medical Needs Teaching Service

Red Kite View

Young people receive daily teaching from maths, English and science subject specialists. The Red Kite View curriculum offer will follow that of their on-roll education provision.

Following advice from the clinical team, a bespoke timetable is created to support young people in achieving their education goals. This could be a combination of 1-1 and group sessions in core curriculum subjects, as well as the opportunity to continue other subjects, including music, art, history, PSHE and health and social care, as either GCSE options or enrichment. Students can also work towards additional qualifications such as AQA unit awards.

We also act as a host centre for external examinations, liaising with external exams officers and facilitating the hosting of GCSEs and other standardised assessments.

Each young person at Red Kite View has a Personalised Learning Plan that details their curriculum intent, and records their progress and engagement in lessons.

Post 16

For young people who are Post 16, we offer support with college subjects, the opportunity to prepare for maths and English resits, and group enrichment activities including music, art and IT.

For post-16 inpatients who are not in education, employment or training (NEET), we provide the opportunity to explore college courses and career options, and also support with applications and interviews.
